Gulliver's shelf for grey skies

Eight games for the hut
when drizzle sweeps the prom

Even the sunniest seafront gets a grey afternoon, so Gulliver keeps eight free browser games on a shelf in the hut for when the rain drums on the roof. There is a zoo to lay out, a football club to steer, two war maps, a Roman arena, a frontier town, a galaxy of trade routes and a quick space scrap, and none of them needs anything installed.

My Free Zoo

Old-school zoo builder · Farm, town & zoo

A seafront in summer is all about the crowds, and so is this park. You draw out enclosures, fill them with animals and keep visitors smiling as the paths spread further. Feeding, breeding and decorating carry a long, calm progression, and nothing punishes you for wandering off to watch the tide come in.

Good for
Anyone after a relaxed builder with plenty of animals to look after.

War Commander key artStrategy & war

War Commander

Modern-war base builder

Here the battle is yours to steer: during a raid you move each tank and infantry squad yourself instead of watching it resolve. Between attacks you patch the walls, rearrange the turret lines and work through event blueprints for new units.

  • One raid and some rebuilding per visit
  • Desktop browser
Who it suits, and your first go

Good for: Players who want direct control when the fighting starts.

Your first session
  1. Put turrets where attackers are most likely to arrive.

Total Battle key artStrategy & war

Total Battle

Tactical empire-building, hut-shelf edition

  • Desktop browser; mobile app also available
Who it suits, and your first go

Good for: Competitive planners who enjoy weighing growth against defence.

Your first session
  1. Keep resource production ahead of recruiting.

Gladiatus key artRole-play & adventure

Gladiatus

Roman arena role-play

  • Desktop browser
Who it suits, and your first go

Good for: Players who prefer quick daily check-ins to long sittings.

Your first session

The West key artRole-play & adventure

Frontier role-play

Life on the frontier is built from work: you pick a class, take jobs across the territory for skill points, settle scores in duels and kit out your cowboy piece by piece. Joining a fort brings group battles over land.

  • A few jobs queued per visit
  • Desktop browser
Who it suits, and your first go

Good for: Role-players who enjoy a character that grows over months.

Your first session

Pardus key artSpace & sci-fi

Pardus

Space trading and piracy

Every move across the galaxy spends Action Points, which keeps short playing time competitive. You can mine, manufacture, run trade routes, smuggle contraband or hunt bounties across linked sectors, and alliances of players shape who holds what.

  • Spend your Action Points, then step away
  • Desktop browser
Who it suits, and your first go

Good for: Players with little spare time who still want to compete.

Your first session
  1. Learn one trade route before branching out.

Price for all eight: nothing to start; extras can be bought inside each game if you want them.

01

Free to step inside

Registering at any of the eight is free, and the complete game waits for you whether your wallet stays shut or not. Zoos, clubs, cities and starships all come complete.

Every studio keeps a little sideline shop for speed-ups and trimmings. Plenty of veterans have never browsed it, and parents on a family laptop can usually turn purchases off in the game's own settings.

02

Stepping inside for the first time

Press a game button and a new tab opens on the studio's own site. Register there with an email address, or in Starblast.io simply press play, and you are in.

Every game opens with a short tutorial. Stay with it to the end; it shows the menus and the ground rules a little at a time, like a walk along the front.

03

Quick looks and long afternoons

Several of the eight carry on without you: expeditions return, jobs finish, animals get hungry and cities keep producing. A glance at lunch and another before tea keeps things moving.

Short peeks suit gathering and lining up orders, while a properly rainy afternoon is the moment for bigger moves, such as a new enclosure, a transfer or a fresh trade route.

04

Bolting your login

Your details for each game sit with the studio that runs it, so type them only at the web address that studio publishes. Bolt the hut door properly: one unique password per game, and the extra two-step check switched on whenever it exists.

No real member of a studio team will ever request your password. Anyone dangling free premium extras in return for a password is angling to steal the whole account; ignore them and flag the message to the studio.

Why these eight earned a place in the hut

  • All eight load in a plain laptop or desktop browser, so a soggy afternoon is spent playing instead of watching an installer crawl.
  • Not one of the eight charges a penny to register, and each stays fully playable for people who ignore its shop altogether.
  • Most keep ticking over with the tab closed, so a zoo, a fort or a cargo run moves on while you watch the waves.
  • The studios behind them have kept each game running for years, so the players you meet are settled and helpful.

No. Every game on the shelf opens in a computer browser, and Total Battle also has an official mobile app for anyone who wants it.

There is no entry fee on any of the eight, and no charge to keep playing. Each has an optional shop, and leaving it alone never locks you out of the game.

No, nor did anyone at Beach Hut Promenade. Outside studios built and run every one, and the buttons here simply point to each studio's official site.

No. Eight different studios mean eight separate free registrations, though Starblast.io lets you fly a match without registering anywhere.

Total Battle comes with an official app as well as its browser version. The remaining seven are listed here as browser games, so they are happiest on a laptop or desktop.

Starblast.io, which loads straight into a match, or Gladiatus with its timed expeditions. My Free Zoo, Trophy Manager and the two war games reward longer sittings.

Yes. Total Battle and War Commander share their maps with rivals, The West has forts, Pardus has alliances, Trophy Manager has leagues of real managers and Starblast.io puts you in live matches.
