Keep it a day at the seaside

Free, yet still 18+: the reason

Social casino games borrow the look, sound and pace of real gambling. That is why Beach Hut Promenade is intended only for adults over the legal gambling age and is not directed at anyone under 18. Age is checked twice: first on the banner that greets you, then as a tick you must give when you create your account.

Lines the lifeguard never crosses

• Offer real-money gambling on the front, or promote it.
• Hand out prizes with real-world value from the hut.
• Sell coins over the kiosk counter, or bolt on in-app purchases.
• Point you up the prom towards gambling operators or affiliates.
• Use countdowns or streaks to push you back onto the beach.

A word of caution from the lifeguard

A free game can be tuned to feel as generous as a summer’s day, and it refills your bucket for nothing. Real-money games do neither. Doing well here tells you nothing about how you would fare with money at stake.

Red flags on the lifeguard post

• Staying on the reels far longer than you meant to.
• Getting snappy as a gull when it is time to stop.
• Spinning to escape how you feel, the way some people stare at the sea.
• Time on the front is eating into sleep, work or time with people.
• You catch yourself hunting along the prom for a real-money version.

Keeping the day in hand

• Settle on a finishing time before you begin.
• Leave autoplay in the hut, switched off.
